Happy Friday!!

I am currently still Atlanta until tonight but regardless, I am very excited that it is the weekend! This weekend TCU plays the University of Oklahoma for the last game of the season! This would be huge if we win so keep your fingers crossed for me! Looks like the weather might remain in cooler temperatures which I’m pretty excited about!!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Welcome to Atlanta!

image via

I am off to Atlanta today for a business trip. After the holiday break we just had I was ready to jump at any opportunity to get out of the office! The first week back is always the hardest if you ask me. Not to mention, I love traveling to new places! I suppose Atlanta is exactly new. I went when I was younger to visit a family friend— that was a long time ago and I hardly remember it. So I vote Atlanta as a new stop in my books! I LOVE to travel. The actual act of landing and take off, not so much a fan but I’m told it’s necessary. When I’m flying I feel like I have an abundance of time to just sit and think. I can think about whatever I want; how the man sitting next to me is stealing my armrest, how incredibly blessed i am, do an overview of how things are going in my life, think about what is next to come in the future, or how cold my feet always get on planes— the options are endless! I can simply put in my headphones and zone out for a matter of hours. I’m looking forward to some “me” time to just sit and think. Isn’t crazy that I am able to have “me” time with a hundred strangers around me? A little odd I suppose. Either way, I am packed and ready to go! If you have any recommendations of restaurants or anything else I should do while I am there please let me know! I am only in Atlanta until Friday but that’s plenty of time to do a little exploring, right?!

Have a fantastic Wednesday! Try to fit in some “me” time today– wherever you may be!!

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it is time for the holiday shopping! Did anyone make it out on Black Friday?? I prefer to stay in the comfort of my home on Black Friday with Ipad in hand to do some holiday shopping. For the most part, I’ve found the online sales are just as good– and I can stay in comfy clothes while at home! I’ve never been out shopping on that awful Friday and I don’t intend on that changing anytime soon! Must be like the saying “like mother, like daughter” because I believe my mom has only made that trip once in her life and she swears she will never do it again.

I decided with all the sales going on and all the great gifts I have been seeing it would be crazy not to share them with all of you! This year I’ve been all about the classy and practical. All of these gifts (for her) listed above are under $50 which I think is definitely a reasonable price for the ladies in your life. Whether that be a hostess, friends, mother or anyone else– these will for sure be a hit! Happy shopping!!

PS. the minimergency kit for her is amazing! Great stocking stuffer! I have one and it is in my purse at all times. It literally has anything for your last minute fixes or emergency go-to’s!

Have a great Monday!

Tasteful Advice: Give Thanks

I whole-heartedly believe that there is always something to be thankful for each and every day. Here are some staggering statistics:

  • The average monthly salary for someone living in Afghanistan is only $14 a month.
  • 37 million Americans live below the National poverty line. That’s 1 in every 8 Americans living in poverty.
  • 3.5% of U.S. households (that’s people within a home) experience hunger every day. That’s 9.6 million people each and every day.
  • An estimated 750,000 people in America experience homelessness and out of those people only 56 percent find shelter at night for sleeping while the other 44 percent end up sleeping on the streets.

Do you have a home and somewhere to eat dinner this holiday? Then i know a few things you can be grateful for right now. We often take for granted the things we are accustomed to. I was incredibly fortunate to grow up in a home where having dinner on the table was an assumed and reoccurring event and not something that we had to worry about. I am incredibly grateful and thankful of the life and amenities my parents have been able to provide for me. Now do not be confused, when I say amenities I am not referring to the materialistic things. Although, I am extremely appreciative of those, as well. I am referring to the experiences that we have been able to have as a family. Whether that be traveling or vacations or simply a night out for dinner to catch up. It is the time I get to spend with my family, wherever it may be, that I am grateful for today.

Giving Thanks:

– I am thankful to have parents who are amazing, humble and kind beyond words

– I am thankful to have both sets of my grandparents alive and well

– I am thankful to have two older brothers who will always call me the “baby” and let me know when I’m acting crazy

– I am thankful to have a wonderful man in my life that loves me unconditionally

– I am thankful to have a full-time job

– I am thankful to have a  roof over my head and a bed to sleep in

– I am thankful that I have wonderful friends who are selfless and hilarious all while 100% loyal

– I am thankful to have graduated from TCU and experienced the best four years of my life

– I am thankful to be happy.

The list of things I am thankful for is endless. In my eyes, I was blessed with much more than I deserve and a day does not go by that I am not grateful for those blessings. Don’t forget to give back this holiday season if you are able!! Search for soup kitchens or toy drives going on in your local area! It’s amazing the feelings that come over you when you know you’ve made a difference in someone else’s life.

Mom & Dad, in case I don’t say thank you enough, I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you do for me on a daily basis. Whether that is coming to visit me in Texas or giving me random but helpful advice. You are the most amazing parents and I think its clear that I would not be the person I am today without your constant guidance. Thank you for letting me move 1,871 miles (but who’s counting?) away to “try something new.” Thank you for always trusting me and always believing in me. I love you!

Have a great Wednesday! Remember, be thankful and grateful for the life you lead- it’s a good one!

Currently Coveting: Sky High Heels

| 1. Kate Spade Lollipop | 2. Steven Loulu Point Toe Pumps | 3. Sam Edelman Celia | 4. Miu Miu Glitter Platform Pump | 5. Jean-Michel Cazabat Suede Elisa Pumps |

Last week I informed you all on my obsession with shoes– more like addiction. This past Thursday I went to a blogger event at Kate Spade NY in Northpark Mall here in Dallas. Bloggers Molly and Sally Miller of A Piece of Toast hosted the event and gave 20% to people that came out. It was so surreal finally getting to meet the two sisters. They’re so sweet– not to mention, gorgeous!! At the event I tried on the Kate Spade Lollipop pumps and they were beyond amazing. I had to refrain myself because I was in dire need of basic (more basic than those.. we’re talking plain and boring) for a holiday party coming up. Oh the sacrifices we must make for shoes!

How great is the heel accent on the Miu Miu Platform Pumps?! The glitter accent would spice up any outfit. However, I’m not sure they would be enough sparkle for one outfit, depending on the occasion. I must say, I think they would look great with black jeans and a basic blouse, possibly paired with a statement necklace of some sort. But that’s just my thought! The options are really endless with these bad boys. They’d be great for any occasion. They’re subtle enough to not shock and awe but also have enough sparkle to accessorize any outfit.

Lately, I’ve been seriously eying shoes with a strap similar to the #5. Elisa pump.  Something about the ankle strap really gives the shoe a great look. They would look great with jeans or a dress. A leather pleated skirt would be pretty awesome to mix and match with, as well. I think the thing I love most about shoes is how versatile they are! You can take one pair of heels and wear them with so many different outfits on a multitude of occasions. Oh how the obsession continues…

Have a wonderful Tuesday– Turkey Day in TWO DAYS! :)

Weekend Recap

This weekend was so great. I will never turn down an opportunity to visit friends. Not to mention, getting out of the city for a few days is always nice. I had an awesome time in Waco this weekend. However, if I never visit again I think i’ll survive– no offense, Jac. It was well worth the trip to catch up with my friend and see her happy in law school.

Side Note: how is it already the week of Thanksgiving?! Family is coming to Dallas this year to celebrate the holiday with me– I am so excited to not be traveling! I am even more excited to have everyone here! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Remember, it’s a short work week!

Have a fantastic Monday!
