Weekend Recap: NYC

This past weekend was beyond amazing. New York is such a great place to visit. Keyword: visit. Although it is wonderful, I don’t think I could ever live there. But that is just my personal opinion — clearly there are many people who would agree with me! The fashion was spectacular — hello, Madison Ave — and the food was even better. This was the boyfriend’s first trip to NYC and I think it safe to say he is a fan, as well. Below are a few (read: A TON) pictures to help review this weekend! We started off Saturday at Freedom Tower and some exploring in the city. Saturday night was a hit with seeing The Book of Mormon (hilarious!). Sunday we visited the MET and took a stroll through Central Park followed by a long walk through the city. Monday was short day in the city but we made a quick stop by The Empire State Building to get some beautiful views of the city. Perfect weekend trip if you ask me! I apologize, pictures uploaded in reverse order so just pretend it was on purpose…

Empire State Building

Beautiful city — how great is this picture. I love all the brownstones in NYC!

Taking a quick break in Central Park

Outside the MET — fantastic museum

Frattiest kid that ever lived. I want him to be mine (one day)!

Scored this coat at a sale in SoHo (C.Wonder — available in stores only)

Have a great four-day-week!!!

Empire State of Mind

images via

This weekend I am off to the Big Apple!!! Cue “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z. Every time I am in NYC I have this utter sense of Carrie Bradshaw being injected into me as soon as the plane touches down. New York City is one of those places you can travel to for years and still never see everything. It is a little magical if you ask me. As far as fashion is concerned, anything is possible and everything is acceptable. I haven’t been to the city in a few years so I am super excited to get back. The boyfriend is accompanying me and I could not be more excited (he’s never been!!) to share this experience with him!! I’ll be sure to capture tons of pictures and share them with you when I return! Until next time…

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!! Happy Friday!

Home for The Holidays!

Tomorrow morning I am waking up bright and early to head home for the holidays! I could not be more excited! I haven’t been home since October and for this home-body, that is a long time. I know what you’re thinking “home-body that moved thousands of miles away? hardly.” But I have to admit, I am very much a home-body. I love my home and my family. Home has always been the equivalent of a happy place for me. Whenever my parents even slightly mention moving out of our house I immediately throw a fit and start laying down any argument possible. I can’t help it — I was born and raised in the same house. There is no other house I want to come home to. No other house would ever be “home” to me. This holiday season after all that has been going on in the world it really makes me appreciate my family that much more. Sure there is guaranteed bickering and chaos with my brothers but that is inevitable. I go home expecting this. But this year, I cannot wait for it all. I love my family so much and I am so blessed to have them. Take me home :)

Now if only I could get a little bit of this for Christmas! Here’s to wishing and hoping!

Safe travels to all and may you have a very happy holiday!

Welcome to Atlanta!

image via

I am off to Atlanta today for a business trip. After the holiday break we just had I was ready to jump at any opportunity to get out of the office! The first week back is always the hardest if you ask me. Not to mention, I love traveling to new places! I suppose Atlanta is exactly new. I went when I was younger to visit a family friend— that was a long time ago and I hardly remember it. So I vote Atlanta as a new stop in my books! I LOVE to travel. The actual act of landing and take off, not so much a fan but I’m told it’s necessary. When I’m flying I feel like I have an abundance of time to just sit and think. I can think about whatever I want; how the man sitting next to me is stealing my armrest, how incredibly blessed i am, do an overview of how things are going in my life, think about what is next to come in the future, or how cold my feet always get on planes— the options are endless! I can simply put in my headphones and zone out for a matter of hours. I’m looking forward to some “me” time to just sit and think. Isn’t crazy that I am able to have “me” time with a hundred strangers around me? A little odd I suppose. Either way, I am packed and ready to go! If you have any recommendations of restaurants or anything else I should do while I am there please let me know! I am only in Atlanta until Friday but that’s plenty of time to do a little exploring, right?!

Have a fantastic Wednesday! Try to fit in some “me” time today– wherever you may be!!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was so great. I will never turn down an opportunity to visit friends. Not to mention, getting out of the city for a few days is always nice. I had an awesome time in Waco this weekend. However, if I never visit again I think i’ll survive– no offense, Jac. It was well worth the trip to catch up with my friend and see her happy in law school.

Side Note: how is it already the week of Thanksgiving?! Family is coming to Dallas this year to celebrate the holiday with me– I am so excited to not be traveling! I am even more excited to have everyone here! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Remember, it’s a short work week!

Have a fantastic Monday!

Tasteful Advice

Tasteful Advice:

1. | Plan a trip somewhere you’ve never been. Its always refreshing to go some place new with someone you care about; friend, family, or significant other.

2. | Learn something new– something non-work related. It’s enjoyable to test your intelligence. Sometimes we get so caught up in work we forget there are millions of things left to learn in the world.

3. | Explore. Go find a place where you can simply wander without care. It can be a new part of town, a new store (this tends to have multiple benefits!), go on a walk and discover somewhere new. You may find something completely unexpected.

4. | Wear something old but new. I am guilty of sticking to my favorite staples in my closet and leaving other things behind. This weekend, grab the blouse, pairs of shoes or jacket you forgot you had and rock it. It’s nice not having to go shopping everytime you want to wear something “new.”

5. |  Don’t forget to celebrate!! Life is about having fun and trying new things with the people you love. Bask in it.

Have a wonderful Friday!

New England Bound

Today I am leaving for home (Boston) and I could not be happier!!!! I will find any excuse to go see family and spend some time in the sixty degree fall weather. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?! I am so excited this time around to go home, even more than before. Why you ask? Because I get to celebrate the engagement of my oldest brother and his wonderful and completely amazing fiance! In case you couldn’t tell, we love her! But we’ve also had eight or so years to warm up to her (kidding, P!) But in all seriousness, I could not have picked someone more perfect for my brother. They’re the most amazing couple and I can’t wait to celebrate the weekend with them! I’ll be sure to take lots of pics and post them when I return on Sunday!
Have a great day!!

xoxo, Megan
